You will absolutely love this tender and juicy beef chuck steak recipe! Who says you have to spend a fortune to get a good steak? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my ribeyes. But I was very happy with this chuck steak. It was a quick, easy recipe that tasted like you slaved all day!
What is chuck steak?
Chuck steak comes from the shoulder of beef and is known for its rich, beefy cuts. The chuck eye steak is a relatively inexpensive alternative to the ribeye. It is typically cut at 1 inch, is tender and has tons of flavor due to the marbling.
Is chuck steak healthy?
Red meat is recommended to limit your servings to 3 3ounce servings a week. Most steaks are at least 8 ounces. With that being said, I wouldn’t eat a steak every night, but you get key nutrients from red meat. I personally, am a carnivore! (Well, actually an omnivore, but I LOVE meat!) Chuck steak is high in protein with ZERO carbs. If you are keto or paleo, this is a great choice paired with vegetables.

How to cook a chuck steak to keep it tender:
This is a simple meal. Set your steaks out and season with salt and pepper about 30 minutes before you plan to cook them.
I made roasted mushrooms and went ahead and prepped them and threw them in the oven while my meat was coming to room temperature.
I tossed the mushroom in olive oil, minced garlic, salt and pepper. I put them in a single layer on parchment paper and baked in a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes. They go great with the steak!
Heat a cast iron skillet or other oven safe skillet on high. You want your skillet very hot when the meat goes in. Once your skillet is hot, add 1 T butter and 1 T coconut oil.
Make sure the oil is covering the entire pan. Now place your steaks in the skillet and cook for 2 minutes on each side.
Place the skillet with the steaks in a 400 degree oven for 6-8 minutes. 6-7 minutes will get medium-rare, 8 minutes closer to medium. DO NOT OVERCOOK THESE! Even if you normally eat a well done steak, you will prefer these in the medium range. You will make the meat tough if you cook it too long. Let the meat rest for 5 minutes before cutting.
Your steaks already have the butter and seasoning, nothing left to do but eat! Serve with the mushrooms and other vegetables.Print
